Best Camping Chairs with a Footrest

Here you have my selection of best camping chairs with a footrest, folding and collapsible, easy-to-use outdoor items with extra comfort for your legs.

If you have had a look around, you know that my focus is on diversity. This means that I am trying to present a variety of designs instead of just collecting very similar models one after another.

So all the chairs here have some great extra features apart from the footrest that is in the focus. This includes a headrest, solid or soft armrests, a reclining design, a side table, a sunshade, and a combination of such features.

1. VINGLI Folding Fishing Chair Plus Foot Rest

This chair is loaded with features, but it is clearly here because of its enormous removable footrest shown in the picture. The footrest size is around 26 x 26 inches (66 x 66 cm). The total length of the chair with the footrest in place is enormous 58 inches (147 cm).

The chair is fully padded, from the footrest to its nicely designed headrest. There is around 1 inch of foam cushion underneath its shell fabric.

The chair is a folding type, and this means very easy to use if you disregard its substantial packed size of 28 x 25 x 10 inches (71 x 64 x 25 cm). Note that there is a carry bag included. The armrests are solid, this makes it easier to get in and out.

This is also a recliner chair, so you have 6 different reclining positions, and it can become completely flat. But this is not all, the length of all the legs of this chair can be independently adjusted. The feet are also adjustable and pivoting, and they are large as you realize from the picture, so they will not easily sink in the ground.

I have already mentioned some dimensions, so here to add that the seat is 22 inches (56 cm) above the ground. The chair is heavy with its 27 lb (12.2 kg). The capacity is 350 lb (159 kg). I have included it also to my list of reclining camping chairs with a footrest.

2. Outsunny Folding Zero Gravity Rocking Lounge Chair

This chair is a very specific type with a footrest, they call such type zero gravity chairs. So this is a recliner chair with a locking mechanism underneath the armrests so you have several different positions, and this works together with its adjustable footrest that works synchronously with its reclining backrest. This means that when you recline the backrest, the footrest raises up.

Adjustability is available also in its headrest with a pillow, and you have solid and ergonomic armrests. From the picture above you see that there is a folding side table with several separate slots for mobile, cups, and other small items.

Note that this is also a rocking chair, so it is included also to my list of best rocking folding camping chairs. The feet are designed so that you can raise them and the rockers will not touch the ground.

The chair is huge, its overall dimensions are (L x W x H) 47.25 x 26.5 x 40.25 inches (121 x 67 x 102 cm). But in spite of such a size, this is a folding design so there is no assembly and it is very easy to use. When folded, the dimensions are 43.5 x 26 x 6 inches (110 x 66 x 15 cm).

You have a steel frame with a powder-coated finish, and the fabric is what they call Textilene, a sort of weather-resistant polyester and PVC. It is thin and breathable, and this makes it suitable for warm weather conditions. The chair weighs 22 lb (10 kg), and its capacity is 265 lb (120 kg).

3. GCI Outdoor 3-Position Reclining Director’s Chair with Ottoman

What is specific here related to the footrest design is the fact that you have a separate element (the ottoman mentioned in the name). So you can use the chair with it or without it, this adds a bit to its versatility. The chair is equipped with a side pocket where you can store this ottoman that folds easily.

But you also see from the name of this chair that this is a recliner with 3 different reclining positions. The chair is folding, and this is also a patent-pending design. The picture shows that it comes with a folding table on the side, this is likely behind the words ‘director’s chair’ in its name.

The chair is on the heavy side with its 16.3 lb (7.4 kg), but note this is with the ottoman included. The capacity is 250 lb (113 kg). Unfolded dimensions are 21.5 x 24.4 x 40.6 inches (55 x 62 x 103 cm). When folded, it measures 32.3 x 21.5 x 3.7 inches (82 x 55 x 9 cm). The seat height is 20.1 inches (51 cm). The fabric is a nylon mesh and polyester, and the frame is steel. The chair is also in my list of reclining camping chairs with a footrest.

4. Sport-Brella Recliner Chair

This is one of the most popular outdoor chairs on the market, there are thousands of reports about this chair on Amazon alone. When you see its features you realize why this is so. So here again you have a reclining design that goes with its integrated footrest.

The footrest is supported by two folding poles and it is kept in place with adjustable straps. As for the reclining backrest, you have 3 different positions. A unique feature here is its sunshade designed as an umbrella. It is removable and also adjustable, so you can rotate it to have the best protection from the sun.

There is a cooler as well, plus zippered storage pockets, and a cup holder in its soft armrests. I mentioned its popularity, so its great price is partly behind this.

The capacity of this chair is 250 lb (113 kg), and it weighs 13.5 lb (6.12 kg). It folds like an umbrella and its packed size is 39 x 8 x 8 inches (99 x 20 x 20 cm).

5. Kamp-Rite Chair with a detachable footrest

This chair is again a folding type, but one of those that fold into a thin and elongated tube. This is why its packed size is 38 x 7 x 7 inches (96 x 18 x 18 cm). Its soft armrests are partly behind this great packed size, as you know the chairs with solid armrests usually remain large in two dimensions. The focus here is its detachable footrest that is supported by two poles.

But the chair is also with a reclining backrest, there is a slider on the back poles and it allows you to recline the backrest to up to 130 degrees.

You have some extras here, and these include cup holders, storage pouches, a headrest, and a carry bag included. This is also one of the most affordable chairs here in the list.

A few more numbers: The official capacity is 300 lb (136 kg) and it weighs 11 lb (5 kg). The frame is a powder-coated steel and the fabric is 600D polyester.

This chair also comes with a patented and unique design. It offers multiple configurations for a comfortable body position no matter where you use the chair. The chair is with a reclining mechanism and you have an adjustable footrest. So you have 15 possible configurations.

The footrest alone has 3 different positions. The backrest can be completely flat and in such a position this chair looks practically like a camping cot. But see some other features, like its wood armrests, then its padding on the footrest, adjustable and removable head support design, storage elements, a bottle holder, an adjustable lumbar pillow, etc.

One very peculiar feature is a face cavity in the headrest. This is integrated to put the face on it when the chair is in the mentioned completely flat position. This will allow you to breathe normally.

But there is more to this; they have added two cut-outs on the sides of the backrest. This is to pass your arms, in this position you can keep the book underneath the backrest when you are with the face in the mentioned cavity and you can read and turn pages.

I mentioned the wood armrests, so just to know that they have a cut-out so that you can use it as a handle to carry the chair. Note also that they offer the chair in 5 different colors.

The frame is aluminum, and this is reflected in its weight, the chair weighs 10.19 lb (4.6 kg). The weight capacity is 275 lb (125 kg), and the overall dimensions are (L x W x H) 60.76 x 28.93 x 39.73 inches (154 x 73 x 101 cm). The seat is 22 inches (56 cm) wide, and it is 12 inches (30 cm) above the ground. The folded size is 36 x 29.5 x 5.5 inches (91 x 75 x 14 cm). Final thoughts

So this was my list of best camping chairs with a footrest, and you realize how nice combinations of features they have. If you are still undecided about what to choose, here are a few tips.

Packed size 

All these chairs are for places with a car access. But there are two main groups, those that fold into narrow but a bit elongated tubes, and those that become very thin but large in two dimensions. The former group will surely take less space in the car.

Weight

The differences in weight are substantial, this is almost by a factor of 3. But as mentioned, you are not supposed to carry them anywhere, and the weight may imply larger dimensions and more features. Though elderly users may bear the weight in mind and choose appropriately.

Ease of use

I would say this is not so critical, they all are quite easy to use, but the weight may be an issue with respect to this.

Price

There are differences, so it is best to follow the links and compare in view of the overall features.
