1. KingCamp Luxury 3D Double Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad
- Dimensions: 79.1″ x 50.3″
- Thickness: 3″
- Weight: 10.6 lbs
- Packed Size: 27.6” x 10.4” x 10.4”
This KingCamp Luxury 3D Double Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad measures 79.1 x 50.3 inches (201 x 128 cm) and is 3 inches (7.6 cm) thick. Note that the packed size (L x D) is 27.6 x 10.4 inches (70.1 x 26.4 cm) which is excellent for a double-wide pad.
The inside is an open-cell foam which makes it self-inflating and also insulating. When you open the valves and unfold the pad, it sucks in the air and inflates. The foam then traps the air inside, insulating you from the ground, so the effective R-value is 4.7. This makes the pad suitable for all seasons.
The top fabric is made with 30D damp-proof and waterproof material and has a far stronger 150D Oxford polyester on the bottom. All these features affect its weight, so the pad is heavy at 10.6 lb (4.8 kg).
2. ALPS Mountaineering Nimble Insulated Air Mat
- Dimensions: 80″ x 24″
- Thickness: 3.5″
- Weight: 2.9 lbs
- Packed Size: 15 x 6
This is an inflatable pad, built in two sizes, single and double pads, and they are both insulated. They share the same basic features; the only difference is the width, related weight, and packed size. Note that they also have an uninsulated solo sleeping pad.
For insulation, they use TechLoft silver insulation. This is a synthetic microfiber material that provides an R-value of 3.9. They claim it is treated with antimicrobials to prevent the growth of bacteria. The fabric is a 40D nylon, so it has a good denier value and a ripstop fabric.
3. ALPS Mountaineering Outback Self-Inflating Air Mat
- Dimensions: 80″ x 32″
- Thickness: 4″
- Weight: 6.6 lbs
- Packed Size: 28″ x 9″
This ALPS Mountaineering Outback Self-Inflating Air Mat is built in two sizes, and they’re both extremely long, but we’re going to be talking about the XL version in this section.
Both versions are very thick pads with 4 inches (10.2 cm) of cushioning. The pad is very stable and doesn’t bounce much, which is excellent if bouncing annoys you when you’re trying to sleep.
One of the problems with these pads is the pack size is relatively large, and they’re not the lightest on the market. Their packed sizes are (L x D) 30 x 10 inches (76 x 25 cm) for the L version and 32 x 12 inches (81 x 30 cm) for the XL pad.
Note that the pads offer excellent insulation with an R-value of 8.5. The valve is their Qwikflate design; you can rotate it to inflate and deflate. The fabric is different on the top and the bottom. On the top, you have a 30D elastic and super-soft fabric, but on the bottom, you have a much stronger 150D material. So this is a camping bed suitable for all seasons.
4. ALPS Mountaineering Vertex Air Bed
- Dimensions: 80″ x 56″
- Thickness: 6″
- Weight: 4.12 lbs
- Packed Size: 15.5″ x 12″ x 4″
Here you have an inflatable sleeping pad for two people, and we would first mention its incredible thickness of 6 inches (15 cm). So if you are a side sleeper or want the best comfort, this pad is for you. You will hardly find something more comfortable. This is why it is also on our list of extra-thick camping pads.
What you can’t see from the outside is its supportive coil structure that stabilizes the pad. It is constructed of durable yet lightweight and completely PVC-free fabric.
They build the pad in two sizes, the queen size and the twin size, and the former is with the dimensions 80 x 56 inches (203 x 142 cm). It weighs 4 lb 12 oz (2.15 kg).
The pad has an innovative pump that plugs into a power source (wall or car outlet) or uses its internal rechargeable battery. Given the pad’s thickness, this is a tool you need, and the pump quickly inflates/deflates the pad. You also have a convenient carry bag included.
5. Nemo Roamer Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad
- Dimensions: 80″ x 30″
- Thickness: 4″
- Weight: 4 lbs
- Packed Size: 12″ x 8.5″

As for the inflation system, the pad comes with dual valves, and this is their Laylow multivalve system with pressure micro-adjustment. A stuff sack is also included. Note that you have Nemo’s lifetime warranty.
6. LOSTHORIZON Airsoft 4.5″ Ultra Thick Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad
- Dimensions: 80″ x 52″
- Thickness: 4.5″
- Weight: 7.5 lbs
- Packed Size: 30″ x 8″
This pad measures 80 x 52 inches (203 x 71 cm); the pad has ultra thick in the name because you have 4.5 inches (10.2 cm), which is enough for any sleeper. But we wouldn’t describe it as ultra-thick; it’s only a bit thicker than usual.
The weight is 7.5 pounds (3.5 kg), and the packed size is (L x D) 30 x 8 inches (76 x 20 cm). They also have a double-wide version that weighs 13.6 lb (6.2 kg), and its dimensions are 80 x 52 inches (203 x 132 cm). The R-value is a huge 9.5. You will probably never need more; this R-value roughly corresponds to -54 F (-48 C). You will want to know that its stuff sack doubles as an inflation sack. The pad offers 4.25 inches (11 cm) of cushion underneath you. With the foam and air inside, you have an effective R-value of 7. So this is an authentic 4-season sleeping pad.
The top fabric is a 50D polyester knit, and the bottom is 75D polyester. The inner is polyurethane foam. You realize from the picture that the sides are made vertically. They claim this gives around 20% more effective usable surface. This is convenient when you use the two pads side by side; they will fit nicely.
You have a dual two-way valve system, it is straightforward to use, and you can regulate and fine-tune the thickness of the pad. A stuff sack is included, and the pad has a limited lifetime warranty.

Inside you have an inner coil system that gives it some rigidity and makes it very stable.
The weight is 2 lb 12 oz (1.25 kg), and the packed size is 13 x 13 x 5 inches (33 x 33 x 13 cm). You get a limited lifetime warranty with this pad.
How To Choose A Sleeping Pad
These are very long pads, but the length may not be the only significant feature. So here are some tips if you are still undecided.
The Width
There are some really wide pads in the list, so if you are a big person and need space to sprawl, keep an eye on the width. As you have seen, there are double-wide pads here as well. So if this is about car camping, use such a pad.
Insulation
For summer camping, you do not need an insulated pad. Even air in the pad gives some insulation; you can expect an R-value of 0.8.
But if this is about cold weather use, check some of the insulated pads here; you have great options in this article, and some are for the harshest possible winter conditions. The insulation is expressed through R-value, so the higher the number, the better.
Thickness
All the pads on this list are relatively thick, but there are differences between 1-2 inches. The thicker the sleeping pad, the more comfortable it will be, but it will also affect the pack size.
