1. Smittybilt Overlander Tent
Here you have a shelter from the brand that has been building such products for more than half a century already. When this tent is installed on the roof of your car, you will need just a few minutes to make it ready do sleeping.
Note also that they build an Annex (sold separately) that can be added to the bottom of the deployed tent with rugged zippers. So this is an extra tent that is next to your car and all three elements make one set.
This tent has access from both sides, and for this you have an 18 inches (46 cm) wide ladder included. They claim that this tent it is suitable for all seasons use.
The tent is built from a durable 600D heavy-duty rip stop polyester, and the fly is a 420D Oxford with 4 mm spring steel durable poles and tension rods.
The base is a 2.5 cm thick aluminum/polyurethane sandwich, and tent poles are an anodized aluminum with stainless steel hinges.
You get a high-density fire retardant foam mattress with a removable cover wide enough for 3 people. There is also an external shoe storage bag, and inside you have LED strip.

2. Crua AER 2-3 Person Rooftop Tent
The focus of this text is on the tent for 2-3 people, but you might what to know that they also have the Maxx version for up to 4-5 people.
As you see from the picture, this is a true rooftop tent, but it is designed also to be used on the ground, and it can be connected with some other Crua tents. You will see this in the videos below.
This brand is known for its insulated tents, so they have built what they call the Crua Culla Haul (sold separately), which is an insulating cocoon which you can install inside of this tent and have a fully thermally insulated shelter. With this extra layer you also have a dark rest tent and it dampens sound too.
The dimensions are (L x W x H) 235 x 140 x 125 cm, and this all weighs 55 kg (121 lb). The total inner floored area is 2.9 square meters (31.3 ft²).
You have 360-degree views and skylights as well. This Crua AER fits most standard roof bars.
The outer fly is a very durable 210D rip-stop poly-oxford PU coated to 3000 mm rating, with full dull silver coating that gives it UV 50+. The inner fly is a 190g rip-stop polycotton PU with a 2000 mm rating. The floor is a 210D poly-oxford with a PU coating and 2000 mm rating.
The frame is with aluminum poles, and you have a telescopic aluminum ladder included. The base is a combination of a fiberglass honeycomb plate and aluminum honeycomb plate.
This is also a ventilated structure with 4 large outer vents and 2 inner vents. You have heavy-duty luminous jumbo zips, 1 large window at the back and 2 large skylights, plus 1 large double layered door.

3. TentBox Classic Roof Top Tent
The next on our list of the best rooftop tents is a hardtop ABS rooftop tent, and the same material is on the bottom. So the whole structure closes in an elegant and low-profile box on the roof, together with its included 6 cm thick foam mattress, and your bedding.
In other words, when you need you bed, you will have it ready literally in seconds. You will see this in the video below.
There are doors on either side, so you do not have to choose how to park the car, you can access the shelter from both sides. On the narrow sides you also have windows. Note that all these openings are with zippered panels for rain protection, and with zippered mesh as well.
This shelter has been on the market for years, and they have been improving it all the time. It is equipped with a gas-assisted opening mechanism.
As mentioned, all you need for sleeping can remain inside when you are on the move. The inner is of the size suitable for two people. You also have a ladder included.
